Singapore International Jewellery Show 2009

Here’s a brief video preview regarding the whole post here (click to the main youtube page to see it in a bigger size):

Let’s begin.

jewelryshow

The Singapore International Jewellery Show 2009 was held at Suntec convention hall 402 and 403 from 30th July till 2nd August. I went there on the last day, heh.

crowdreg

One needed to register before entering the halls since (duh), this is a jewellery show and security was important. You wouldn’t want anyone to go stealing things from the various companies there, do you?

formreg

While you waited in line, you got to fill in a lucky draw form and everyone in the queue was doing it since the prizes were jewelry or cash vouchers.

visitorpass

I find registration for this pretty interesting since the administration staff there took a photo of you via their webcam to put it in their database for the pass. When you entered the main doors, the police will scan in your pass and the screen says “Welcome (your name)!” with your picture on it. Sooooooo personalized and posh. Can you spot the tiny typo though?

models

I managed to get to see a bit of the fashion show with the jewellery that the models were displaying. You can see the one she’s displaying at the back screen there.

jewel

Jewellery, gems and assorted metal related booths (like grading gold etc) from all over the world were there.

jewellery

The local jewellery stores were also showcasing and selling their goods too. Their showcases are so prettyyy.

gems

You were able to buy gems, minerals and other crystals there too. The kind where you are able to make your own custom jewellery. It was tempting to buy some but nah, I’m not the one who sells custome pieces. My friend Tancy does that.

jdmis

JDMIS also had a booth there for their school. There was a diamond quiz and that you had the chance to win gemology course. I was having a look-see and all. They’ve got a new metal smithing course by the way but I don’t have much information on that yet.

people

It wasn’t that crowded to warrant difficulty in walking but it was a pretty popular event especially with the older ladies and adult working types. They definitely liked the pretty bling bling. Well, sophisticated looking bling bling anyway. The stuff there were beautifully crafted.

necklace

That would look awesome with a forest green or slinky black dress by the way. Not sure if this is a yearly thing but if so then watch out for this event if you wish to buy jewellery and gems. It’s like the “IT show” for jewellery.
