Singapore Toy, Games & Comics Convention 2009

I don’t know how to start this so I’ll say that it was awesome!

Wooo, wooo okay. So on the first day (for me), on Friday I went to the conference sessions first. Bla de dah. It was pretty cool! The stuff were informative and fun. Also, I got a conference goodie bag. The speakers were all very interactive too and you got to learn more about their various productions or products.

Can’t say much on it since there’s too much but there’s lots of things to look out next year like a zombie movie in production in 2010, Lego Universe online game and the minisodes of LaMB premiering in September on Animax.

Pretty much all those including the papers except for Mothman and Flatwoods toy (for Arrch) and the events guide since the guide costs $4 and the toy was redeemed after the conference.

I managed to get an autograph of Junko Wong for Little Ribbon on a picture of her Blythe. Apparently she was only there on Friday and I didn’t know. :O (I went the next day to buy the fashion book and some shoes.)

Photobucket

I collected much freebies too including being a beta tester for Hello Kitty’s online game. YAY! BWURHURHUR.

Hurrah, hurrah the end of Friday.

In which day 2 on Saturday was had. Brian Bolland and Tan Eng Huat was signing autographs and drawing sketches. The other guest artists also had their own time slots too so people with their toys or comic books had to check the schedule and get in line to get them signed at their own various booths.

The day started off by a GI Joe performance by the guys of Movie Mania and SEJA. For Saturday, the western genre for cosplay was had and Batman was apparently one of the judges there.

Day 3 on Sunday. Do you remember the screaming femme in the GI Joe stunt show on Saturday? Well, I was the screaming femme for Sunday. It was my shift at the Movie Mania booth in the morning anyway. I am very pathetic at acting as a screaming femme. In any case, lots of people came by to look at the props and stuff. Oh by the way, if you’re interested in prop making, costumes and the such, join their forums!

Anyway, Sunday was my “free” day so I walked around the convention hall to get what stuff I wanted to buy or see.

Those are helmets designed by celebs to be bidded on for the Make a Wish foundation. The money will then go to MaW whenever they’re bought.

Photobucket

There were also sculpting demos at the World of Warcraft game area.

Photobucket

Macarons only come out at the end of September so these was a preview. They’re fake squishy things by the way. It’s the Breadou set at Action City.

Photobucket

Multicoloured Blythes at their section. The whole area for Blythes was freaking pink and cute.

Photobucket

M18 game previews. Totally amused with Onechanbara’s Bikini Zombie Slayers. Didn’t play since I saw the demo before.

Photobucket

As usual, there were weird toys like the 5 second game thing. I managed to get 4.99. SADNESS. You click start and try to get 5 seconds when you click stop. The number is hidden until you end it.

Photobucket

Oh yeah on the first day I did this. Animax was holding a voice talent or i-hosting competition. I entered the voice talent one where you get to VO dub a character from an animated clip. It was fun.

Photobucket

By the third day, most of the popular items were sold out.

Photobucket

Vinyl toy designers. Oh and I found MUNNYs. $20 at Toysrevil store. Didn’t buy them but remembered where so I can get them another time. I always wanted to have some blank toys so I could design on them.

Photobucket

Optimus Prime remote controlled truck at Movie Mania, it costs around $1000.

cosplay

The organizer for Coscon is the Masked Rider on the right. Heh.

cosplay

Since it was the last day and the day for the anime/manga genre of cosplay competition. Cosplayers were everywhere.

cosplay

This was the previous day though but I’m putting it here cause it’s awesome. Prince Nuala from the Hellboy movies.

cosplay

Back to the last day. That is not a statue. That Spartan from Halo is REAL.

Photobucket

Since it IS cosplay day, there were tons of photographers.

cosplay

So totally like this.

cosplay

Not cosplayers but promoters and THAT IS SOOO COOL. They were around the Nintendo area.

cosplay

I’m seeing better and better cosplayers every year.

Photobucket

Loot for last day, some comics I bought. Tanpopo volume 1 was sold out so I bought Burn and the rest of the toys there are the free redeemable toys that you could get with the event guide book. AND THAT WAS IT. It was fun and cool, so yaaaaaaay. It was much fun because when you get your comic books signed, it was nice talking to the artists who drew/wrote them!

Hopefully this will be a yearly event, people are definitely loving this convention.

Thanks for the post about the toy convention. Went there last year but I cant make it this year. Was being super jealous of the people who went! đŸ™‚
