A Comedy of Errors

waidnano 001

Booyah! I went to “An Evening With Mark Waid”. Saw Mr Comic Shop Owner guy (Bernard of G&B Comics) and I’m more than sure he thinks I’m a freakish fangirl by now or something since I keep appearing at the comic panels and talks. I just do especially for this month since it’s Singapore Writers Festival and I’m there anyway… ANYWHO, The Pod is a super special restricted area of the library where you have to be registered to enter since it’s only accessible by one lift and only when it’s “beep”ed in by the staff.

Alright, day 2 on 25th Oct of the Singapore Writers Festival. 11 am at the Earshot Cafe and there was quite a number of people. Suddenly it occurred to me… WHERE DO THESE PEOPLE COME FROM? I didn’t realize we had much love for books here which is pretty much a YAY! Oh yes, Raven Silvers and I came to support Wena for The Proper Care of Foxes, plus Raven wanted her poster of SWF signed and I wanted to get what books I wanted before next week. (I don’t wanna lug more books for next Saturday when I’ve got my own thing on.)

Day 1 of Singapore Writers Festival… 24th October and Wena Poon sang karaoke in the morning. HAHA, okay not. It was a reading of the Biophilia Omnibus at 11am. Before hitting up the Arts House, I went to Spotlight at Plaza Singapura because they had a grand reopening after their renovation.

Wasn’t aunty enough to arrive there early to be the first 500 people to get the free goodie bags. Nonetheless, I checked out the Halloween section and went ooh since there was something I wanted to buy there… And left because I didn’t want to be late for the reading at the Arts House.

The Night of Lit Up Books

oday

So like, I got invited to the Singapore Writers Festival 2009 opening cause I was hot since I’m part of the programme for this year. Part of the prograaaamme, part of the prograaaamme. Sounds like some Matrix thingy but right, anyway, invites yay! It was lovely of them to invite us and all. FYI, the opening was on the 23rd, the Friday evening before everything started on Saturday. Naturally, it was at the Arts House.

A night of ironies

Note: Later part of this post has some spoilers involved.

cineleisure

I rushed from work to Cineleisure so I could pick up my ticket and have a bit of a dinner before it would start.

The Yasmin Ahmad tribute with the gala premiere in Singapore for Talentime was featuring that day, on 15 October at 7pm. I managed to get a seat online the day booking was opened and even by then, the seats were selling out so yaaay, I was quick enough to snatch one up!

Your universe

Yess, another post in the Nanowrimo series. This time it’s your universe, or rather, I’m writing about the universe my characters are in. You’ve got to know where on Earth (or non-Earth) your characters are to let them play around, you see.

Or else… well, it’s just characters and your story won’t have those little details that makes it real for the characters themselves to live in.

universe

So let us build a universe.

Into the research

This year I’m gonna document how I can do 1667 words a day for November. Well, for Nanowrimo, that is. Sure, I can probably write more a day and finish it before the deadline but it’s just fun that way, you know. Plus, I like seeing a gradual incline on the graph on my account there.

If you’re not even Nanowrimo-ing, this will still probably be educational if you ever want to figure out how to write at least a novel of your own. Sure, there’s probably tons of websites out there saying the same thing but heeey, whatever. I just like writing these stuff up anyway to note it down. Thus, this will also be a progress post of sorts.

Alright, this year I want to write about superheroes.

Or to be exact, I want to write about the person who makes the super hero outfits.

Nanowrimo Stickers

(The stickers are for those who come to the party or write-ins! The badge is mine.)

Quiet once more. Okay so I do have things to post but I am pretty occupied with planning for Nanowrimo anyway. The kick-off party that is. If you guys haven’t known, details are here:

Location: Earshot Cafe, The Arts House (near City Hall MRT)

Date: 31st October, Saturday

Time: 2pm-4pm

Dresscode: Under Cover

Yeah that’s the brief details that you might have read in an earlier post but meanwhile, I’m planning with my other co-ML what to put inside the goodie bags and they’re going to be literally punny.

MEANWHILE, preparations are being done. Wuuuaaargh. Also ideas, plotlines! Stuff! For Nanowrimo in November! If you guys haven’t tried it before, DO IT.

Well, if you like to write stories anyway.
