Hey everyone! Remember the last time I went to check students out doing their works for the N.E. mation contest?
Month: July 2011
Winter is coming!
A mysterious email (not really) and a yes from me sent a deliveryman to hand this over.
It is a bag of flour.
And it is a clue.
To bake some cookies? NYAHAHAHAH. No. No, it is not although I am tempted to give the bag of flour to be traded for some more cookies.
SDS 3.10 – Black or White
Ah, we managed to catch An Ode to Penguin, an exhibition of Penguin books by Books Actually! It was at The Arts House’ Gallery, at the second floor of the building.
SDS 3.9 – The Resurrection Stone
I visited two different libraries on that 9th July Saturday. The first one was at Serangoon library to catch an author’s session. The one in the evening was at the National Library. Heh, heh. It was for the Harry Potter party held at the multipurpose room.
Lurker
Ho ho ho, Lauren Kate, the author of Fallen, Torment, Passion and The Betrayal of Natalie Hargrove was in Singapore to do some appearances!
I went to Lauren Kate’s first at the Serangoon Public Library. The other appearances would be at the books stores and the Jurong library for that day. Anyway, I was early. Like, super early so I lurked around near the shelves standing around and reading children books where the Granny had alzheimer’s and couldn’t make her golden soup right (?!?) and that the children had to understand and stuff. (I continued to read about lonely hippos having a party and some cat who wanted to be other animals but yeah, ok.)
Another Time…
Remember 48 Hour Film Project? Tiramisue has finally uploaded the director’s cut on youtube! You can watch our film here.
Fun fact! It was a collaboration between Singapore and our other team in Vancouver!
The requirements for 2011’s Singapore 48 film project was:
Character: Jason / Jamie Chen
Prop: Apple
Line of Dialogue: “Time will tell.”
The genre that our team got was “Time Travel” which was a wild card and we won for Best Use of Character! That and a set of Crocs shoes for each of the crew cause they were one of the sponsors for this year! In fact, if you got to see all the films this year, a lot of them were very good and some were even done by people from productions companies?!.
Not sure how 2012 will be like but at this rate, the films are turning out more like a typical film fest but done in a less amount of time and even with the requirements needed!
Oh with less angst of course. 48h has always had more comedic short films and it’s pretty fun.
SDS 3.8 – I Believe I Can Fly
In this episode, the crew and I went to Sentosa! Wooooh! Sarah Does… Sentosa? Well, it’s still Singapore. This time I wanted to try out the new iFly Singapore. It is the first building or the most obvious building you’ll see if you took the Sentosa tram and stopped at the Beach Station.
In a design sense, the website is pretty rubbish cause it’s made of FLASH! That means you can’t check the website out on your iphones/ipads or if you have a slow connection. I hope they will eventually redesign it because it IS a hassle to get information to book a slot from there.
Of writery stuff
Quite a few interesting events! Firstly on Saturday…
Lauren Kate Signings in Singapore
Lauren Kate, writer of the Fallen series will be here in Singapore on 9 July 2011!
Serangoon Public Library 12:00-1:00pm Edit: A comment from library staff below informs that it is now 12:30-1:30pm
Borders Wheelock Place 2:30-3:30pm
Kinokuniya Singapore Main Store 4:30-5:30pm
Jurong Regional Library 6:30-7:30pm *just added
Considering I have a party to host in the evening with things to prepare, I’m probably going to the session at the Serangoon library. Now, to figure how to get there…
Next up, we have:
SDS 3.7 – Reflection
Cosfest once again! At Downtown East! I went on the second day as I was busy on the first! It’s now X.1 for 2011. Ah I could remember the first Cosfest and it had lesser people compared to now!
