N.E.Mation: You’re a star

An educational bit of while we were in Los Angeles. No, going to iHop is not the educational bit.

Although, it was kinda educational when we learned that our drinks were refillable. Had a slushee, juice, coffee, tea or well, any drink? YOU COULD REFILL IT. Wow. I don’t know about you guys but this is a norm for some restaurants or shops here.

Refillable drinks.

Fyi, clockwise from the omelette (spinach and mushroom), chocolate chip pancakes, cinnamon French toast, strawberry pancakes and red velvet pancakes.

On account that it was Tuesday (I think it was that day), we could have gotten extra plain pancakes with EACH ORDER.

SO MUCH PANCAKES.

We didn’t do that.

The students did that though.

AND THEN ROAD TRIP TIME! You can see that it is vast and hilly or well, the buildings are so flat and low…

A whole bunch of twists, turns and hours later, we arrived at the California Institute of the Arts. You might see it is sunny but one of us were going, “OH! It’s so sunny and going to be hot!” and then we stepped out of the car and it was freaking cold because of the wind.

I laughed insanely at that.

We signed up for the campus tour (they’re free, you just need to call the office to check) and were led around well, the campus!

Calarts is THE place to be if you ever want to be an animator or artist type. For those who know what my fandoms are, you’d know I like Adventure Time and the creator of it was from THIS SCHOOL.

AAAAAAHhhhhhhhhhh.

You can see how it is very nurturing to the students here on how they let them learn from other courses as long as you do have your main specialty.

Theatre, costumes, music, video, animation… THE ARTS! Any bit of the arts! They have facilities for students to work in. It’s like… WOAH. You will flourish in such an environment!

Which is probably why this is also tough to get into since it’s so competitive to get in. Our students got to learn how to apply to get there and were also shown presentations and animated shorts done by the graduating Calarts students.

The Calarts students also get to intern in places such as Pixar.

It’s ok, I’m not there but I’ll one day make my own cartoons and stuff eventually.

Or you know, if you’re Pixar… Lucasfilm… Or any video, media, game or animation company, my about me page has my contact.

The end of the tour and info session at Calarts and back to our road trip again! There are so many unique cars on the road and so much… road.

We were heading to the Hollywood walk of fame. The place where you get to see the handprints and stars and all that. We got to one of the upper floors where you can see the Hollywood sign and take pictures with it.

Um, here. Yeah. It’s that far away. The access to the actual Hollywood sign is prohibited anyway since it’s high up and dangerous.

And then we took a walk around! I did get to see the Chinese Theatre where they always have the awards. People in imitation mascot outfits wanting tips for their pictures taken. Tour bus guides shouting out for attention to their deals.

Oh and we spotted the Scientology building! It was in between other flashy buildings.

Anywhoooo, the stretch was kind of dodgy so some of us took the Metro and took to… Well, I forgot where, what I remembered was that WE DIDN’T CHANGE TO THE CORRECT TRAIN ON THE WAY BACK.

There was a bit of double backing and we got back to our rendevous spot in tiiiiiime.

Yay.

There’ll be train pics especially when we hit New York in next week’s posts, so you’ll learn more about the system then.

Watch out for Monday’s post on… DISNEYLAND.
