SPATIUM…?

Spatium

Ah Spatium, Spatiuuum aka #NE10C09.

Do you say it as SPAH or SPEH?

Well, it’s a team of four girls from CHIJ, St Nicholas Girls’ School: Xu Chunran, Deng Cheng, Ng Yi Zee  and Thel Su Thazin.

Puzzle placing

Theirs is a live action video mixed with 2d animation.

They look like such good girls here, looking so concerned about their production.

Fragile

I managed to visit their tent and after the whole recording of people placing pieces of a puzzle together, they had to keep it there for reference.

Cleaning?

I’m rather concerned about them though as this was week one and they’ve started to randomly vacuuming things without the plug on.

Just do it

And then I saw all the Shia Leboeufs… That was five days of work, there will be more by the end of their production.

Just doing it.

Deng Cheng says the moon represents her inner self, so alright. This is the time just doing it.

I could tell you more about the story of their production next week (TUNE IN SOME MORE or read their blog posts) but so far, they have live action video recorded for their part one and part two is a LOT of animating of scenes in toon boom.

Guiding

This was on the last day of week 1 and… And she made a mistake.

Her instructor is telling her how to fix it and she has to redo that scene.

So sad

Creys. So much creys.

It’s ok. They’re still sort of on schedule…? Sort of. They can do it! Let’s give them, our support!

What just happened?

I managed to get to witness the debrief of week 1 and Deng Cheng asked Ellery if he could take off his hoodie because she had never seen him without it before.

And that was then I knew this group was going to be ridiculous.

Ok, the Shia Leboeufs were major hints also.

They are actually sword trash (Touken Ranbu), Potterheads, K-pop and one hipster(?).

A varied group but they are all working together.

This is their tent

This is going to be about how everyone works together in their story and it looks like how everyone, though different is also working together to create this animation.

Go like their page, follow their Instagram and twitter!

Talk to them, I think they really need it if they start vacuuming things again.

The Attack of Duck Vaders

Duck Vaders

Duck Vaders aka #NE10C05 are students from CHIJ St Nicholas Girls’ School.

They are not ducks, nor are they invaders.

They are:

Rebekah Seow, Goh Kerrianne , Christabelle Kam Rui Ting and Lim Yean Lyi

And they are awesome girls. YEAH!

Green Screen

It’s NEMation time again and I’m ambassadoring two teams, both happen to be from CHIJ and well, let me tell you more about Duck Vaders.

This is their first time animating and working with a green screen, so now they have learned how high resolution a 4k camera is and why makeup is totally needed.

Rapping

Their concept is rap, recorded and performed by themselves and for all the animation to happen around them.

Cutting

So far, none of them have paper cuts on their fingers and that’s great because they have a lot of cast and sets to make.

Part one, they had to record the song and have themselves recorded.

Part two, they have to do the actual animating part now.

The cast

Here’s some of the multiracial cast. Hey… What’s that over there? Let’s take a closer look at the NS guy.

Close up

It’s all… in coloured pencils?!

I asked them and it takes 4 hours to manually colour the digital uniform for NS army guys now.

And they have two army guys to make in total…

MAJOR HAND CRAMP MATERIAL.

So handsome.

Rebekah finds this guy the handsomest of all their paper cast because he has awesome hair.

He kind of reminds me of a broody Angel from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Angel

Sort of, right??

Camera set up

Stop motion with all the paper cut outs is so going to take a lot of time. Here’s their set up with the camera mounted above.

So if you don’t know how it works, they have to manually take a picture frame by frame and then from there, it gets animated when it’s all put together.

Debrief

Week one for Duck Vaders and they’re on schedule. Let’s hope they continue being on schedule.

Come support them and watch out as we tell you more about the story they’re animating in just these few weeks.

15 Fun Facts about Pasir Ris Library

Reservations

The library in Pasir Ris just reopened on 28th November 2015!

YAY!

I managed to get a preview before the opening and in a way, I got to have FIRST BUTT on the seats there as I look-see-ed the place.

Here’s some fun facts you might not know with this new reopening.

Fact 1: They’ve got this reservation collection ‘outside’ the main gates of the library so that you can collect your reservation any time the mall is open.

The little shelves will light up and you can collect your book from there.

Fancy Cinema Thingums

Fancy tickets

Before the weekend hit, I had a little time to hit to the theatres after doing my work and quickly took the earliest time for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2.

I’m not going to spoil the movie but it really IS a good adaptation of the book.

What I go woah is that I just bought the ticket and didn’t know it was fancy. I thought it was just because it’s the premiering-early dates or something?

ANYWAY, I went to Shaw and it came in this reflective silver ticket. Plus a little $5 voucher thing to offset drinks or food.

The Collider

The collider

The Arts Science Museum invited me to their press preview of the Collider! This exhibition is until January 5th if I’m right?

Anyway, there are other exhibits at the same time so you can check what ever is on then too.

Without spoilers, if you’re going to Collider, do get a guided tour because you won’t be able to get ‘everything’ by just reading it.

Like Shia Says Just Do It

It's a shoe

It’s already November. Either you’ve done your year’s resolutions of keeping fit or well, not.

If you haven’t, you could try getting a head start on next year’s resolutions on trying to be fit.

Or it’s at the point in time where you can pre-present yourself shoes for Christmas to go oooh, wow since you’ve gotten shoes like Nike Free 5.0 (I’ve seen these in stores and they seem really nice), you might as well go run.

Run before Christmas, run before the holidays so you can be ready to eat all the things?

I guess, it’s the easiest thing to do though, just run around if you don’t know how to carry weights or other exercises.

We’ve got a lot of marathons in Singapore. For a country that’s pretty small, everyone seems to be wanting to run all over it.

Speaking of marathons, I don’t know how I did it last year. I did one run a month for 2014 and this year I chose only the obstacle courses.

It wasn’t that many runs this year but enough for me to go “What was I thinking?” last year because besides the whole running thing (which, I admittedly walked a lot in between sprints), the starting time is always super early and in some middle part of Singapore or even in Sentosa.

How the heck did I do it?

Well, I’ve got a Spartan Run left coming up soon, I really have no idea how I’ll do that one since it seems so tough according to the ads online. WILL I MAKE IT?

Probably yes, I freaking paid for a spot in the run.

I won’t want to give up in the race or even go “Meh, I’ll just sleep. Sleep is nicer”.

It really is kind of a thrill when you complete it. Kind of like “YESSS, I DID IT”.

The medals are really nice too, you can keep it or hang it somewhere. Ok so.

Would you guys go sign up for runs if they were cheaptastic and you get a nice goodie bag and medal to go with it BUT if it started early like heck?

I want to be part of #NUFFNANGBLOGCON at Hotel Jen Tanglin

Nuffnang blog con

Guys, you can try win an invite to #nuffnangblogcon here. I’m writing this post to win an invite.

Why? Because in 2010, I went to their Nuffnang Blogger Symposium.

It had been super useful and I did get to see all the other bloggers even if I’m super quiet and discreet.

I’ll still probably super quiet and discreet if I were to the at the conference since there’ll probably be those super popular bloggers there anyway and what do I even say to anyone?

However, this conference sounds like it will be informative for me to learn more. Mind you, I’m not super popular because I am a niche blogger but attending these conferences and implementing stuff or just learning a little bit does help.

Trust me.

It totally helped.

From drama and hearsay or rumours of the bloggersphere, I’m totally no where near it but I want to know what the industry thinks about it since bla bla, everyone is more on social media or online so come on. I WISH TO KNOW what their thoughts are on this in a corporate way.

Anyway, Nuffnang, let me win an invite. I want to go.

10 things I’ve Done or Am Doing

OK. That was a mini hiatus of sorts?

Not sure who noticed but yeah. I’ve been doing things.

1) Love Kuching needs your help financially (transfer moolah to DBS current 027-905975-3)  if you can’t volunteer your services. You can know more from their website.

9) I’m doing the Spartan Race. Soooo I got to train (more).

10) I’m blogging here, aren’t I? SO WOOOH. OK. More posts ahead.

I Can’t See the Light

It’s hazy.

My take is that if you can see the air, wear a mask. Whatever, there will be people saying “No needlah” but whatever. That’s them. I’ll wear my mask, thank you very much because I can tell the difference with and without it.

Especially when I went for a shoot and oh my goodness. Yes. Whatever, maybe you’re good without it, cool. My asthmatic friends, just wear it okay?

I got my 3M V-flex mask from Guardian pharmacies but I did notice them being sold at Popular bookstores too.

And this is an upgrade from Vogmask. We have an online store selling to Singapore.

Verdict? It’s comfier than the 3M one and way more stylish. Still, if you want to get an even more cooling one, try the double vent one, I guess since it’s cotton (I haven’t tried it but I’m guessing since if this one is ok, that one should be even better).

I still have the 3M with me but with the Vogmask, I’m sure I won’t accidentally tear it or anything of that sort. Let’s face it. Until Indonesia gets things sorted out, the haze is going to be here for quite a bit.

With all this haze though, it means most of our activities are limited indoors. But ungghhhh. I can stay indoors. On the computer all the time but eh, sometimes one needs to just go out and run around.

SO HERE’S A LIST of indoor activities you can do that does not involve being stuck at home (besides lurking in shopping malls):
