Jupiter Ascending… ASCENDED

Reaction Shots

I really like Jupiter Ascending and while there are so many websites and tumblr posts about the movie. Here is my non-spoiler reasons to watch it:

1) It is diverse. Like, ACTUAL diverse.

2) Space!Dorian is in there. You know, from Dragon Age: Inquisition.

3) Space!Dinosaur-men

4) Teeny fangs wolfy Channing Tatum

5) The lead heroine aka Jupiter is like us. Like, really.

6) Such romance. Such lines. I know some people will be screaming my name, wondering if I influenced the directors in the romantic lines (I didn’t).

7) It has a lovely story of really, the message is: What you do is not who you are.

You can be a sweeper or some minion but that’s not who you are. You are much more than that. And vice versa.

You can be a rich noble but who you really are might be a douchcanoe.

8) ACTUAL STORY ABOUT FAMILY.

THANKS. THANKS FOR NUMBER 8 BY THE WAY. It really is. You know why?

It reminds me of times when we had Princess Bride, Legend (with the pantsless Tom Cruise) and Labyrinth.

IT HAD ENOUGH DRESS CHANGES AND PRETTY WARDROBE like it too. But yesss. All it needed was a ballroom dance scene. Was there a ballroom dance scene? I can’t remember because I was already stunned at the whole thing. PLEASE HAVE A BALLROOM DANCE SCENE IN EXTENDED VERSION.

There has to be one.

It’s like Sucker Punch with less suck.

While Sucker Punch made me go YES YES YES AND THEN no…no… nooo. After the fish dance peak in Sucker Punch, this just made me go “YOU DID NOT GO THERE. YES YOU DID GO THERE. OK. FINE. LET ME… SUPPORT YOU, JUPITER CAUSE you’re like a friend”.

Now.

For a spoilerific reaction WHY I liked Jupiter Ascending.

If you clicked this link straight without the read more, don’t read past my picture of my wrist with the word SPOILERS on it if you don’t want to be spoilered.

Or read my random ravings of the movie.

Down the Road

HP stuff!

Harry Potter night was held on the afternoon at Orchard Library on the 7th Feb since well, a lot of us could only make it in the afternoon of a weekend.

Nifty stickers were had and stuff from the library too!

Lime juice at JTown.

A photo posted by Seriously Sarah (@sarahcoldheart) on

After the little soiree hosted by Midnight the Magnificent (her nick on Nanowrimo), I led my friends to Orchard Midpoint for J Town!

That’s Jakarta town, not Japan town. Anyway, I got the little office lady, Fuchico from Tokyu Hands. I might want to get more of her.

The crowds down the street

And it’s the second last episode of pedestrian night at Orchard road apparently.

If you want to catch pedestrian night, looks like next month is the last installment of it. That’s the first Saturday of the month and it starts at 6.30pm.

I don’t know what’s March programme is but it just is nice to walk down that road when usually it’s just traffic?

Mind you, it IS a hassle when you realize there’s traffic divergence and all but I think we’ve learned about it by now?

So Sure? Yeah

It's Irene Ang!

I got invited to the first Fly Social Exchange at Bar Naked. Actually, I was a bit “Hmmm” about it because the topic was SG50: What does it have to do with me?

If you didn’t know, I came up with the #SG50Game on twitter.

It goes a bit like this:

sg50game

So I know SG50 is going to be here until quite a while. At least until the year is over.

However, I read that the invited panelists were: Pat Law, Daniel Ang, Patricia Mok, Kelvin Ang, Tosh Zhang and Hayley Woo.

Plus, since the moderator is Irene Ang

Then this Fly Social Exchange thing is going to be interesting.

Or at least, yeah I’m somewhat of a Pat Law fangirl, haaaa.

OH, fun fact: I once enrolled in Fly Academy’s acting class, it was nice. From the brief time I was there, I did know the place had quite fun staff and teachers (who are actors/actresses/hosts/etc). AND I KNOW Irene Ang is a really, really good host too.

PS. NO. I DIDN’T COUNT ALL the SG50 talk mentions in my challenge because I’m not doing it beast mode.

PPS. Before it all started, we learned that the hashtag was #FlySoSure because… Fly Social… GET ITTT?

GUYSSS. Always saw those tumblr prompts or wanted to write a story with them? WELL. You should try it for this.

Also… yes. Any ‘outlook’ is our code for WRITE WHATEVERS YOU FEEL and by any outlook, you should know what I mean.

Your characters can like anything or anyone they like as long as it makes sense.

Anything as long it is FUN to read. That’s our criteria. It better be entertaining and fun and not with IN YOUR FACE agenda. It can have the message inside but no blatant ones because the main thing is that the story has to be engaging read.

Do look through the pdf in the fine details, it’ll tell you how to submit your story.

Basically, when you’re feeling down. Or bored and you want to read something that takes you away from all this. That’s what we’re looking for. Write something that takes you away somewhere else.

It can be urban fantasy, fantasy fantasy, high fantasy, soft fantasy.

Just… just take us away, ok?

We clicked on Lazada

Hello friends! I got an opportunity from Lazada to try out their store!

Huzzah.

I’ve seen Lazada around… on the internets. It’s there when I scroll down on my Facebook page anyway in ads, so it’s pretty well known.

If you’re a hikikomori, a busy person who has no time to go shopping in an actual mall or are so bored but the urge to shop at midnight when most shopping malls are closed and don’t want to leave your bed, this site is for you.

Considering, I know most of my readers are either hikkis or people who are just all “Ain’t nobody got time for that”, I think this place will be ok for you guys.

I checked it out and went “Huh” because it really has a lot of things? I was pretty impressed with that. Their search engine is pretty good too.

Mind you, unlike beauty bloggers and whatnot, I’m into adventure and it’s really not often when I can just search for the items and BAM, it does show up on the website especially when this is a Singapore online shopping place.

ANYWAY, HERE IS A LIST of my recommended items you can get at Lazada!

By the way, since it’s near the holidays, you can do some online CNY shopping too. Less… rushed than being in packed malls.

Sarah’s Ultimate Adventure Top 10 List

1) Red Monster Power Bang!14.800mAh

Powerbank

You totally need a power bank for your phone especially if you’re going to spend the day outdoors.

Also, if you’re a gamer, you can always get a nintendo cable adapter to charge your 3ds. I’ve a fondness for Red Monster power banks, they’re really good and it’s got the word MONSTER in it so, RARRR POWERRR.

2) 21” Soprano Ukulele ( Black / Shine Finished )

Uke

Guys, of course I would check out if they have a ukulele in their store, due to obvious reasons.

There are expensive higher grade ones but this is a cheap one.

Since I know most of you might want to just get a really basic cheap one for yourselves/ your kids/ friends or might not really want to explore to the real life shops to get one. So hey, they have one!

Good for relaxing, playing music or serenading to your pets too. Or when you’re alone and waiting for your friends at a bus stop, at a staycation etc, you get the idea.

3) GoPro HERO (Local Warranty)

Gopro Hero

Of course, you are out on adventure or having fun. Perhaps some water sports or trekking through a nature reserve?

Or biking, skateboarding and well, the suggestions are endless.

If you want to stick it on a selfie stick and take pictures of yourself shopping, I guess that works too…

ANYWAY, this is a new Gopro Hero! It’s the most basic yet, if you’re a regular person who’s not a professional sportsperson or explorer, this is for you!

It’s got the protection of a gopro, a great format for uploading pictures and videos online AND it is cheaper than the other gopro versions.

4) (EXPORT) Canon IXUS 95 IS Pink + camera bag

Canon!

I’m a Canon girl. I’ve always used their Ixus for when I need to take pictures on adventure.

This is a great size to hide within your palm or just to take around for blogging.

Yes, if you wanna blog and not carry a DSLR, I prefer taking this around since it actually pretty tough too.

5) CamelBak Octane XCT Hydration Pack Black Skydiver

Hydration pack

Is your resolution to go for runs or marathons this year? You might want to invest in a hydration pack.

Look at its sleek design. I got one from Camelbak and it is very useful for those obstacle course marathons where you have to jump into mud, crawl under nets and climb over walls.

Really, get a freaking hydration pack because if you really want to go on marathons or sports events, it is really useful especially with the weather we have in Singapore.

Better hydrated than not.

6) Buff® National Geographic Series : Bless

Buff!

Buffs! You have no idea how useful they are. A lot of my friends have buffs now because they’re stuck to adventuring with me and really.

Sometimes all you need is just a buff.

7) Columbia Maxtrail Convertible Pants Blade

Pants!

The best pants for wandering around. They’re tough and light. Plus, you can zip off the lower part to convert them into shorts!

Need to do a lot of running or clambering through shrubbery? This pair of pants is Lara Croft worthy.

Upside, they’re really really good in our hot weather in Singapore.

8) Targus 15.6” City Fusion Laptop Backpack

Targus!

I ain’t going anywhere without a laptop or a netbook. Whether for work or for play, Targus is my main laptop bag to go.

It’s got space for your tech gear, a water bottle, random stuff.

Stuff in your gear for blogging on the go!

9) Maxpedition Jumbo™ Versipack® (Maroon-Khaki)

Adventure bag!

Heck them backpacks!

You know you’re going on a full day adventure somewhere and don’t want to carry unnecessary stuff. This is best for carrying a waterbottle/umbrella. Your main camera, a power bank, writing materials and even a little more like, your 3ds/PSP/handheld game.

Why do I recommend this one? Because you can easily RUN with this. Sling it around, push it to the back and jump over puddles, clamber over trees and you’ll be sure that this bag won’t rip.

Ok, you can also use this on a leisurely day too but it’s Maxpedition, it’s going to be tough and long lasting.

10)  Cardsharp Pocket Knife

Cardsharp

I must warn you guys not to be an idiot when purchasing this. Considering my readers are super responsible people, I would go yay on that.

I have a cardsharp and it folds into a card shaped thing.

You’ll never know if you need a knife to either cut art materials for cosplay or ingredients at a camp.

I use mine to cut slices of cheese…

It’s a foldable knife! Just don’t bring it on airplanes, it’ll be confiscated.

There you go, that’s my suggested list. It’s optimized for ADVENTURE AND FUNNNN.

Shopping at Lazada

Anyway, here’s a little tutorial on how to shop at Lazada!

A  tl;dr version is that, shopping at Lazada is easy and wow, ok. Their shipping is freaking fast.

Lazada!

First, go to Lazada.sg. And then… go search for whatever you want to buy. You’ll see they have helpful categories on the sidebar.

Project Bling

Guys, this is the year in which I’m going to embark on a pretty ambitious cosplay project. Well, ambitious for me anyway since I haven’t cosplay-ed a fancy lady before. A rich fancy lady from a game called Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Josephine Montilyet

I know, the game came out in 2014 and yet I am still playing it and my friends too. It has gone that far. So if you’re playing the game, look out for Josephine. That’s who I’m supposed to cosplay.

As such, there’s going to be a lot of sewing and the only props I need to make is her clipboard and necklace?

However, this will be the first time I have to actually wear proper make up (due to being a fancy lady). Sooo maybe Sephora makeup? I know a lot of you guys like to use them and ok. Going to the store itself can be intimidating, maybe I’ll just get it online or something and wait for it while I track down props, at least it’s easier that way.

Oh well, wish me luck on this. It’s a new challenge of cosplay project to actually look pretty instead of mysterious or tough this time.

Do you wanna make a shortfilm?

The Prologue

You know how to sing it. Do you wanna make a short fiiiiilm? It doesn’t have to be a short film…

Anyway, I was invited to ciNE65‘s The Prologue, aka their launch of their commissioned films and the whole intro about season three for submissions to their competition!

This season’s theme is “Believing • Home”.
